Sunglass Hut is a one-stop shop for top brands, latest trends, and exclusive sunglasses. They are part of Milan-based Luxottica Group, the largest premium eye-wear company in the world, with more than 2,000 stores globally.

This 150sqm luxury commercial fit-out of the Sunglass Hut store in Bourke St, Melbourne is one of many flagship stores being constructed around the world. Working for FDC Construction & Fitout, Andrew was part of managing this renovation and fit out project.

The project involved the following:

  • Carpentry works
  • Steel-framed windows
  • Polished plaster
  • Terrazzo floor finishes
  • Bespoke joinery items in marble, terrazzo, leather, as well as timber veneers
  • Metal and concrete finishes
  • An interactive lighting display that was installed with high-tech visual merchandising elements

Responsibilities included:

  • Engagement and management of all trades
  • Procurement of all material
  • Engagement and management of all consultants - architects, engineers, and building surveyors
  • Formation, execution, and management of head contract and all sub-contracts
  • Management of project budget, timeline, and quality
  • Management of all authorities - council, utilities, and emergency services
  • Liaising with clients and representatives
